_______________
A typical capoeira class includes:
Some light stretching and conditioning to warm up
Technique work to learn basic movements with step-by-step instruction
Partner-work to learn how to read and react to the movements of others
Music practice to better understand the rhythm of the art
Some improvised sparring/playing for those who are comfortable with the basics.
Students are encouraged to wear clothing that they can comfortably move around in (for example, sweatpants and a t-shirt) but to avoid shorts. Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle. If you prefer training in shoes, we recommend bringing indoor sneakers that are different than the ones you wear to class, preferably with relatively thin soles.
The class is easily accessible by T via the Ruggles stop on the Orange line, or by bus. Street parking is typically available one block away from the Dewitt Center on Shawmut Ave.
