Celebrate the end of summer by grounding yourself in movement and community!

Bem Vindo Roxbury is a family friendly celebration with workshops for kids and adults, great food, live music and dance performances.

Learn new ways to move, make friends, and take care of yourself with movement workshops from Modern Connections and martial arts workshops from Roxbury Capoeira.

The celebration will end with dance, acrobatics, and martial arts performed to live music, led by Roxbury Capoeira.

Everyone is welcome at Bem Vindo Roxbury! No prior experience needed.


Registration includes access to two 60-minute movement & martial arts workshops (for adults and kids!) as well as a complimentary food ticket catered by Nubian Markets. Attendees are also eligible for a special one time offer for 50% off 3- and 6- month packages through Roxbury Capoeira.

Meet Your Instructors

Instrutor Bambu, Roxbury Capoeira

Professor Bambu has been training and teaching capoeira in the Boston area for over a decade, beginning with Mestre Chuvisco in the early 2000s. In 2022 he began teaching classes in the Roxbury area. His primary interests are sharing the passion and energy that he finds in capoeira with others and building a strong community here in Boston.

Jenny Oliver, Modern Connections

A multifaceted artist based in Greater Boston, Jenny serves as an educator, performer, choreographer, and arts advocate. Rooted in trauma-informed culturally responsive approaches, she weaves kinetic storytelling with dance and collective collaboration to create meaningful experiences.

Anja Voges, Modern Connections

Anja Voges is a dancer, teacher-in-training, and assistant with Modern Connections, studying Founder Jenny Oliver’s pedagogical approach to Horton-based modern dance classes. She teaches Horton at Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center and K-Pop Dance Covers through pop-ups and workshops.
